Champions League Betting Tips (Wednesday)
The final Champions League action of 2013 takes place tonight with the conclusion of Groups E-H.
In terms of British interest, Arsenal face Napoli, Chelsea host Steaua Bucharest and Celtic travel to Barcelona.
Napoli v Arsenal
Arsenal are just about over the line in Group F and a draw or better in Italy this evening would rubber-stamp their progress into the knockout stages.
They top the group by four points ahead of Borussia Dortmund and Napoli, thanks to the 2-0 win over Marseille a fortnight ago.
The Gunners beat Napoli team 2-0 in the return fixture at the Emirates back in October but Rafa Benitez will be without Slovakian playmaker Marek Hamsik who is out with a hamstring injury whilst goalkeeper Pepe Reina is a doubt.
Arsenal come into this game off the back of Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Everton and have now fresh injury concerns, with Bacary Sagna the only long term absentee.
Napoli are slight favourites for victory, with Bet Victor offering the best odds of 13/8.
Arsenal are currently unbeaten in five in all competitions, so my BET OF THE DAY is on them winning this one, especially considering Ladbrokes are offering fairly generous odds of 19/10.
You can catch this match from 7:45pm on Sky Sports 2.
Chelsea v Steaua Bucharest
Despite losing to Basel again last time out, other results going their way mean Chelsea are already guaranteed a place in the knockout rounds.
They will be looking to bounce back from Saturday’s surprise defeat to Premier league strugglers Stoke City and know a win will guarantee they finish top of the group and will theoretically get an easier match in the last 16.
Steaua have yet to pick up a win so far in this Champions League campaign and are destined to finish bottom of the group.
Chelsea beat them 4-0 the last time the pair met in Romania in October and Jose Mourinho will have a number of players available to him following injury, including Ashley Cole, David Luiz and Oscar.
This match is live on Sky Sports 3 from 7:45pm.
Barcelona v Celtic
Celtic will be playing for pride at the Nou Camp this evening as they are guaranteed to finish bottom of Group H after picking up just one win in their five games so far.
Neil Lennon must deal with the absences of James Forrest, Beram Kayal and Tom Rogic who are all out with injury but Scott Brown is available after his suspension he picked up in the return fixture at Hampden Park.
Barca are also without a number of stars, including Lionel Messi, Cesc Fabregas and Victor Valdes whilst Dani Alves is suspended.
You can catch this on live from 7:45pm on Sky Sports 4.
Don’t forget, there’s five more games taking place on Wednesday evening and you can keep up to date on all of them via the red button on Sky Sports.
Sky Sports will also cover the conclusion of Tuesday’s outstanding Group B game between Galatasaray and Juventus which was abandoned after 38 minutes due to snow. This will be live on one of their channels from 1pm.
