Champions League Semi-Final Betting Tips

Champions League bettingMark Rawlinson

Four teams are now just a single match away from making it to the final of this year’s Champions League in Lisbon in just under a month’s time.

Bayern Munich v Real Madrid Betting Tips

Real Madrid take a slender 1-0 advantage into this tie, with Karim Benzema’s early goal in the first leg putting them on the front foot. However, despite plenty of first half pressure, they were unable to add to the tally and may have been relatively happy with the scoreline after coming under substantial pressure in the second half.

But with Munich holding home advantage for this second leg, you’d have to favour them winning it, and probably even making it through to the final.

The key thing for Pep Guardiola’s side is to not concede, as they will then require at least three goals on the night to progress.

Madrid have won seven of their last eight, including Saturday’s 4-0 drubbing of Osasuna, and conversely if they manage to score early on in the match, you’d have to favour them to progress with the away goal.

Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is set to have Karim Benzema and Pepe from knee and hamstring injuries whilst Cristiano Ronaldo returns from a recent hamstring problem and Gareth Bale returns from illness.

Bayern are 3/4 favourites to win this second leg with Paddy Power whilst William Hill offer the best odds on a Madrid win at 19/5.

Chelsea v Atletico Madrid Betting Tips

Then on Wednesday, king of the mind games Jose Mourinho has the golden chance of putting his side back into the Champions League final.

The competition remains the one major trophy yet to be lifted by him at Stamford Bridge and this could well be his best opportunity to do it.

They managed to grind out a 0-0 draw in the Spanish capital last week which puts them in the driving seat for the second leg in London this week. And buoyed by Sunday’s 2-0 win at Liverpool, spirits will be high amongst the Blues’ contingent heading into this tie.

The size of the challenge still remains large for Mourinho though, considering Atletico’s unbeaten run spans the last 14 games, with a most recent 1-0 away win at Valencia at the weekend.

Add that to a fairly long list of missing key players, with both Frank Lampard and Jon Obi Mikel suspended, with Petr Cech being ruled out for the season with a dislocated shoulder in the first leg. Samuel Eto’o (knee), John terry (ankle) and Eden Hazard (calf) are all doubts. Diego Simeone will be without the suspended Gabi whilst Arda Turan is a doubt with a groin injury.

Bet 365, amongst others, price Chelsea at 13/10 to win this leg, whilst Atletico are best priced at 13/5 with Bet Victor.
