Chelsea Champions League Betting Tips
Just four teams remain in the fight for this year’s Champions League as we head into the first legs of this season’s semi-finals.
Chelsea travel to Athletico Madrid for their first leg on Tuesday evening whilst Wednesday sees the clash of the titans as Spanish giants Real Madrid play host to German champions Bayern Munich.
Atletico Madrid v Chelsea Betting Tips
With this weekend’s shock defeat at home to Sunderland all but putting their pay to Premier League title hopes, Jose Mourinho would be well advised to put all his eggs in the Champions League basket, as he goes in search of his first European title win the Blues.
The surprise 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge on Saturday leaves them five points behind leaders Liverpool, meaning a win against them next Sunday won’t be enough; they still need the reds to drop points in one of their two other games.
Chelsea’s form going into this semi-final has been far from impressive, with three losses in their last six, including defeats to Crystal Palace and PSG in the first leg of the quarter-finals.
In contrast, Atletico lead La Liga by four points and have not lost any of their last 12 matches in all competitions. A 2-1 aggregate victory over Barcelona earlier this month saw them through to the last four.
Petr Cech is expected to return to the Chelsea line-up on Tuesday after missing the weekend’s game through illness whilst Eden Hazard faces a late fitness test if he’s to return from a calf strain.
The pair have only met three times in recent years, with Atletico reigning victorious last time out in August 2012; a 4-1 drubbing seeing them win the European Super Cup.
Following their good run of form going into the match, Atletico are considerable favourites to pick up a first leg win, with Ladbrokes currently offering the best odds of 19/20. Bet 365 provide the best value on a Chelsea win at 4/1.
BET OF THE DAY: Atletico have not conceded in any of their last four matches, and they’re well priced at 21/10 to win to nil with Betfred.

Real Madrid v Bayern Munich Betting Tips
Then on Wednesday night it’s the big one as two of European football’s top clubs clash at the Santiago Burnabeu.
Although they are considered by many as the most glamorous team on the planet at the moment, a third placed Real Madrid side in La Liga prove that for all their glitz, they haven’t quite lived up to their potential out on the field.
After easing to a 3-0 first leg win over Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of the quarter-finals, they were dealt a real scare in the return match in Germany but escaped with just a 2-0 defeat, meaning their progress was guaranteed.
And following back-to-back defeats in the league in late March, Carlo Ancelotti’s men have since won five in a row, scoring 18 goals in the process meaning they head into this clash in good form.
After wrapping up the Bundesliga in March, Munich looked to have taken their foot of the gas as they went three games without a win, including a heavy 3-0 loss to Dortmund in the league.
However they overcame Manchester United in the last eight with relative ease and have won their last two domestic games heading into the semi-final.
With their domestic season already taken care of, boss Pep Guardiola’s can now fully focus his attentions on defending their Champions League crown, which could prove the difference in this tie against a Madird side battling it out in Spain.
This one is live on Sky Sports 1 from 7:45pm.
