Premier League Betting Tips

With the excitement of the opening day’s fixtures out of the way, Premier League teams will this week be either making up for a poor start to their campaign or building on a strong first result.

Fulham v Arsenal

One of the teams looking to make up after a bad start are Arsenal who will be desperate to get a win on the board after their humiliating 3-1 home defeat to Aston Villa last Saturday.

Arsene Wenger’s men went some way towards making amends for their disastrous start with an excellent 3-0 win at Fenerbahce in the Champions League play-off round on Wednesday, but will the long trip back across Europe have hindered their preparations for the early kick off on Saturday?

Fulham will be hoping so and Martin Jol’s side will be searching for back-to-back victories on Saturday lunchtime following a decent 1-0 win at Sunderland on the opening day thanks to Pajtim Kassami’s goal.

Arsenal are favourites to win the game with Stan James offering the best odds of 11/10 whilst Bet 365 provide the best prices on a Fulham win at 16/5. The London derby kicks off at 12:45 and is live on BT Sport 1.

Aston Villa v Liverpool

These two sides got off to ideal starts last weekend, with the aforementioned Aston Villa victory at the Emirates providing a perfect remedy to kick-start the Midlanders season following a struggling campaign last year.

Christian Benteke will surely be a pivotal figure for Paul Lambert’s side if they are to cause another upset this week, after he also netted in the midweek defeat to Chelsea.

However, Liverpool’s much improved side stood up to a battling Stoke side last weekend and will be hoping for a little less testing game this week.

The Reds are expected to secure the three points with Paddy Power offering the best odds at 21/20. But if Villa are to play anything like they did last week, then odds of 3/1 with Stan James are a tempting offer. This game is live on Sky Sports 1 from 5:30pm on Saturday evening.

Manchester United v Chelsea

Most eyes this weekend, or make that on Monday night, will be fixed on Old Trafford as David Moyes faces a tough test in only his second competitive match in charge of Manchester United as they host Chelsea.

Moyes couldn’t have asked for a better start to his reign at The Red Devis with a 4-1 win at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday, with braces from Robin Van Persie and Danny Welbeck.

But Jose Mourinho has laid down the gauntlet on his return to Stamford Bridge with two victories from two in the opening week of the Premier League.

A ruthless 2-0 win over league newcomers Hull City was followed up by a more than useful 2-1 win over a strong-looking Aston Villa side on Wednesday.

It’s unusual that such ‘big’ matches take place this early on in a season and you’ll be able to catch all the action live on Sky Sports 1 from 8pm.

Their home advantage has seen Manchester United placed as pre-match favourites with the bookies and Paddy Power offer the best odds at 6/4. Stan James provide the best odds on a Chelsea win at 85/40 whilst they also offer the best prices on a draw at 5/2.
