Saturday’s Horse Racing Betting Tips

By Conor PhillipsRyan Air Chase Cheltenham 2014

There are seven fabulous horse racing meetings for punters to get stuck into this weekend, including the Dubai Duty Shergar Cup at Ascot as well as some high quality racing at both Haydock and Newmarket.

Dubai Duty Shergar Cup Sprint Handicap (Class 2)

William Haggas’ Noble Deed has already won three times over today’s trip this season, putting him in serious contention again here under Rosie Napravnik. He beat Nardin by a length at Newcastle last time and at 5/2 represents good value.

Shahdaroba is another who is sure to perform, with the drop back in trip expected to suit. Heavy Metal has had a tough season following some good form last August and the Group 2 juvenile winner is likely to struggle again.

Finally, Barracuda Boy symbolises excellent value if he can return to the form of his third at York. Stan James offer the best price of 8/1 which could prove a very decent bet.

The Redcentric Shergar Stayers Handicap is likely to be another fantastically competitive renewal, with the 10 entries all expected to run a good race.

I cannot see past Broxbourne, who ran superbly at Goodwood to add to the victory at Ascot here last month when she had Homeric and Highland Castle behind.

Brockwell was fifth behind favourite Broxbourne, who is 9/2 best price with Bet365. He will need more here though and is likely to finish up pretty similar to that race again here.

Mutual Regard and Homeric are two of the likely contenders, both in with a very good chance. The former won well at Ffos Las but this ground may not be quite quick enough for him. The latter will have to reverse the result at Goodwood last week but should run well. They are both 11/2 with BetVictor.

Chesterfield and Prairie Ranger both warrant respect in the Keltbray Shergar Cup whilst Star Lahib is sure to run well in the 3.15.

Roger Varian’s Steps ran well here last time and is sure to be in contention again today in the Barclays Shergar Cup Dash. Racy and Judge ‘n Jury both warrant respect too.

Betfred Rose Of Lancaster Stakes (Group 3)

The feature race at Haydock sees Sir Michael Stoute’s TELESCOPE in action once again. He is as short as 4/7 with Ladbrokes, however most firms are currently offering 8/13 for another win.

City Style has had some decent results in the past and Noble Mission cannot be ignored. The latter does find it difficult to finish on top though and I cannot see the short favourite getting beat here in the Betfred Rose Of Lancaster Stakes.

The following race at Haydock is another interesting one which may cause a few more problems for those having a flutter.

Ultrasonic has been running very well without quite being good enough for victory in similar races to this. She is due a win although she will need to find a little more. Expressly is another who represents decent value at 3/1 and we will see just how good she is today.

The German Thoroughbred.com Sweet Solera Stakes (Group 3)

The German Thoroughbred.com Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket sees some top fillies’ in action. Wedding Ring leads the betting at 7/2 with Stan James and she may well have enough to win this.

She beat Ihtimal over 6f in June and the extra furlong should suit. Midnite Angel is another strong contender but may not have the stamina to compete with these. Baby Bush cannot be ignored under Richard Hughes, who chose her over the stable companion Midnite Angel.

Baby Bush is currently 5/1 with William Hill to come out on top.

Another interesting run today is that of WISE DAN who runs in Saratoga. He has won 10 of his last 11 runs and looks an absolute beast. He has won all three starts this season and won last time out at Saratoga, so the most highly rated active racehorse in North America should have no problems again.
