Schalke vs Nurnberg Betting Preview 10/05/14
Schalke won away at Freiburg last round in what proved to be an easy game (finished 2-0). They let opponents hold most of the possession but still Schalke created the best chances and were by far the ones more dangerous.
With only a draw the 3rd place in Bundesliga will be theirs and participation in Champions League next season will be assured. But this doesn’t mean Schalke will play for a draw, on the contrary, with this being the final game of the season they will try to please fans, especially when up against one of the poorest teams in the tournament.
Schalke will have to do without central defender Santana who got a red card last week. Fullback Ayhan got out injured last round and will most likely miss.
Nurnberg recorded a 6th consecutive defeat last round (lost 2-0 to Hannover) and their adventure in Bundesliga is over. They once again gave away huge spaces in defense while upfront most of their attempts were shy could barely trouble opponents’ keeper. If on home ground against a mid table team Nurnberg were so soft, a trashing is foreseen away at one of the best sides in Bundesliga.
Besides assuring a Champions League presence Schalke will surely want to finish the season in style, and against Nurnberg they won’t have to struggle too hard to achieve that… Schalke -1.5 at 8/11 from Paddy Power is one of the bets of the round in Bundesliga.
