Just 2 points separate Almeria from the relegation zone. 2 rounds ago it seemed they finally picked up some form after winning over Getafe on home ground, but last week they couldn’t build on that success and lost 1-0 at Elche.
In spite of the poor recent results Almeria make huge efforts in all games. The main problem seems to be in the offensive department where the 4 offensive players lack intuition.
But on the other hand almost everyone is involved in the defensive phase making it difficult for opponents to play their usual game.
Almeria will welcome back fullback Dubarbier after he was suspended last round.
Not even the most optimistic of Atletico’s fans would have expected such an achievement after half the season gone. Atletico are topping the Spanish League and furthermore they managed to qualify for the 8th finals of the Champions League, where they have good chances of advancing even further (will play against Milan).
This week they also played the 1st leg of the important Cup derby against town rivals Real Madrid (lost 3-0)
I believe all of this affected Atletico’s players, and before games against weaker and out-of-form teams (like Almeria is) Atletico may relax too much and underestimate the opponent.
Nobody is saying Atletico can’t win, only that this won’t be a trashing. Atletico to win or Atletico with handicap will surely be a popular bet all over the world this weekend, but the value lies on Almeria +2 (European handicap) at 5/6 from Sky Bet.
