There’s work to do for the two English teams in Champions League action as Arsenal and Manchester City must both over-turn 2-0 deficits in their second leg ties against Bayern Munich and Barcelona respectively.
Bayern Munich v Arsenal Betting Tips
Can Arsenal repeat history and rescue their European campaign in Munich tonight, where they need at least a 2-0 victory to avoid defeat.
That was the score almost 12 months ago when goals from Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny gave them a 2-0 win at the Allianz Arena, but it wasn’t enough as Bayern scraped through on away goals after a 3-3 aggregate draw.
But Bayern have a daunting record on home soil, having lost just one match since the Gunners’ win their last year, that being the 3-2 defeat to Manchester City in the ground stage in December.
And the task will be made even harder this evening judging the German champion’s impeccable recent run. Pep Guardiola has clearly got his side running as a well-oiled unit, and they’ve been ripping teams apart recently, with an incredible 33 goals in their last eight games, with just one conceded in that run.
Arsene Wenger has a couple of absentees for this evening’s game, with Kieran Gibbs and Yaya Sanogo ruled out but Laurent Koscielny is available following an injury.
Going on their recent form, I can’t see tonight’s game ending in anything other than a Bayern win, although odds are very short, with Bet Victor offering the best value at 1/3. Perhaps betting on a Bayern win to nil at 6/4 with Ladbrokes will provide a better return. Should you fancy an outside bet on Arsenal, then Betfred price them at 9/1.
BET OF THE DAY – With five goals in his last four games, I can see Thomas Muller being on the scoresheet tonight. He’s available at Evens with Coral as Anytime Goalscorer and 4/1 with Paddy Power as First Goalscorer.
Watch this one live on ITV 1 from 7:45pm tonight.
Atletico Madrid v AC Milan Betting Tips
Seven times European Cup winners AC Milan also have work to do in Spain tonight as they seek to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg.
Milan have had a miserable domestic season so far this season, and currently languish 10th in the Serie A, with just two wins in their last seven matches, including back-to-back defeats to Juventus and Udinese in the last week.
Atletico are enjoying a much better season than their opponents, and remain in the La Liga title race, just three points behind leaders Real Madrid and will look to seal comfortable progress in Europe tonight.
Catch the match live on Sky Sports 1 from 7:45pm this evening.
Barcelona v Manchester City Betting Tips
Manchester City are another side who have a mountain to climb to keep their European season extended beyond Wednesday evening. They must also overturn a 2-0 first leg defeat to Spanish champions Barcelona but must upset the odds at the Nou Camp.
Their horrific 2-1 defeat at home to Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup at the weekend couldn’t have come at a much worse time for Manuel Pellegrini’s men, ahead of what is arguably their most difficult match this season.
Barca took the driving seat in the tie in Manchester three weeks ago following Martin Demichelis’ error, allowing Lionel Messi to kick the Spaniards ahead from the penalty spot, before Dani Alves added a second late on to cement the Catalan’s position in the match yet more.
Demichelis, who was also at fault for the first of Sunday’s goals against Wigan, is suspended for this game after being sent off in the first leg.
Whilst City are finding the going tough in recent times, Barca haven’t had it all their own way either, with defeats to Real Sociedad and Real Valladolid in recent weeks putting them on the back-leg in the La Liga title race.
The match is live on Sky Sports 1 from 7:45pm.
PSG v Bayer Leverkusen Betting Tips
The final Champions League last 16 match this week sees Ligue 1 champions PSG take on Bayer Leverkusen on a tie which already looks to be settled.
Goals from Blaise Matuidi, Yohan Cabaye and a Zlatan Ibrahimovic brace saw PSG claim a comfortable 4-0 win in Germany three weeks ago and it looks like a case of how wide the winning margin will be for Laurent Blanc’s side tomorrow.
The writing seems to be pretty much on the wall for Leverkusen who are without a win in six in all competitions, especially when you contrast that to PSG’s form, with them being unbeaten in nine.
The French side are 2/5 favourites with a number of outlets including William Hill, whilst Bet Victor offer the best value on a Leverkusen win at 8/1. Again, a PSG win to nil looks to be a fairly safe bet, with odds of 6/4 provided by Bet Victor.
This game is live from 7:45pm on Sky Sports 4 on Wednesday.
