We’re heading into the home stretch of this season’s Premier League and there are a couple of key games this weekend which could determine what the top and bottom of the table looks like at the end of May.
Arsenal v Manchester City Betting Tips
Arsenal’s title hopes will be well and truly ended on Saturday evening if they lose to top four rivals Manchester City in the tea-time kick-off.
Defeats to Liverpool, Stoke and Chelsea, plus the midweek draw against Swansea, have put the Gunners on the back-foot on the assault on the Premier League crown and they now trail pace-setters Chelsea by six points.
A crippling injury list has not helped Arsene Wenger in recent weeks, and key players such as Laurent Koscielny, Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey remain sidelined for the hosts.
Visitors Manchester City are in a much stronger position in the title race after Tuesday’s 3-0 win over cross-city rivals Manchester United and a win would keep the pressure on Chelsea.
After their blip earlier in the month, City have scored ten in their last three games without conceding and will be confident of backing up their 6-3 win in the reverse fixture back in December, with another win over Arsenal.
City also prevailed 2-0 winners in this fixture last season and are my tip at 23/20 with Bet Victor on collecting the three points again. The best odds on an Arsenal win come courtesy of Bet 365 at 14/5.
BET OF THE DAY: Yaya Toure is in excellent goal-scoring form with four goals in two games. He’s well priced at 12/5 as anytime scorer with SkyBet.
Watch this game on Sky Sports 1 from 5:30pm.
Liverpool v Tottenham Betting Tips
Seven consecutive league wins have kept Liverpool very much in the race for the title and they trail Chelsea by just one point as they go into Sunday’s match with Tottenham.
The hosts have been fortunate in terms of injuries but frontmen Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge are hitting form again just at the right time and the Reds have netted 18 goals in just five games.
Visitors Tottenham ended their four game winless run last weekend with an important 3-2 win over Southampton but their best hope for the rest of the season is securing fifth spot and another Europa League place for next year.
Vlad Chiriches and Emmanuel Adebayor should be fit following injuries but Tim Sherwood will be without trio Kyle Walker Etienne Capoue and Erik Lamela.
Liverpool won the reverse fixture 5-0 back in December and I can’t look past them again for this one and would back the hosts at 1/2 with William Hill. Bet 365 offer the best odds on a Spurs win at 13/2.
Watch this one from 4pm on Sky Sports 1 on Sunday afternoon.
Sunderland v West Ham Betting Tips
There’s a key clash at the bottom of the table on Monday night as 18th place Sunderland entertain 11th placed West Ham.
Sunderland, winless in five in the league, are in dire need of a win and three points would most likely see them climb out of the bottom three in favour of Crystal Palace, on goal difference. Gus Poyet’s only absentees are Kieran Westwood and Steven Fletcher.
Four consecutive wins in February have seen West Ham secure safety in mid-table and they’re looking for back-to-back wins after last weekend’s 2-1 win over Hull.
Winston Reid, James Collins, Matt Jarvis, Joey O’Brien and Marco Borriello are all set to sit this one out as the Hammers’ injury-plagued season continues.
You have to go back to April 2010 for the last time that West Ham beat Sunderland in the league and the Black Cats are 13/10 favourites with Paddy Power.
Watch this one live from 8pm on Monday night.
