The Aviva Premiership returns tonight following a three week Heineken Cup break and there’s plenty of action across the weekend.
Bath v Gloucester is the only match on tonight with the pick of the weekend games seeing Northampton Saints take on early league-leaders Saracens on Saturday afternoon.
Bath v Gloucester (Friday)
Bath come off the back of back-to-back wins in the Amlin Cup against Bordeaux Beagles and Newport Gwent Dragons and head into this match in fourth place in the Aviva Premiership.
Gary Gold has made a number of changes to his side from that latter victory Dave Attwood, Anthony Watson and Rob Webber making their first appearances since September, whilst Peter Stringer and George Ford both return at half-back.
Gloucester had mixed results in their recent Heineken Cup matches, with last weekend’s 26-10 defeat to Munster putting a dampener on the excellent 27-22 win over Perpignan a fortnight ago.
Coach Nigel Davies has only retained six players from the starting XV against Munster, with Tom Savage, Freddie Burns and Matt Kvesi a few of the players returning to the side.
You can watch the match live on BT Sport 1 from 7:45pm.
Northampton Saints v Saracens (Saturday)
The pick of the matches on Saturday afternoon is the clash between second-placed Northampton and early pace setters Saracens.
Saracens have won all five of their league matches this season but face their toughest test of the campaign so far at Weedon Road.
Both sides have made similar starts to their European campaigns over the last three weeks, picking up one win and one defeat from both of their opening Heineken Cup matches.
Saracens won both of last season’s league clashes between the two sides but Northampton came out on top on the match that really counted, beating them 27-13 in the play-off semi-finals.
Elsewhere on Saturday afternoon, Exeter host Worcester, who are currently bottom of the pile after losing all five of their opening games, whilst Harlequins take on Sale Sharks. Both these games kick off at 3pm.
London Wasps v Leicester Tigers (Sunday)
The TV game on Sunday afternoon sees 11th placed London Wasps face a tough test as they host Aviva Premiership champions Leicester Tigers.
The Wasps picked up two wins in the Challenge Cup over the past two weeks but have only registered one domestic victory so far but are actually slight favourites for victory.
You can catch this one live on BT Sport 1 from 3pm.
Also on Sunday, ninth placed Newcastle falcons host eighth-placed London Irish. You can see the latest odds for this match, the other Aviva Premiership games and the weekend’s RaboDirect Pro 12 games at BritBets by clicking HERE.
