Borussia Monchengladbach – Nurnberg
The hardest thing about this game is correctly pronouncing the name of the home side: Monchengladbach. So we’ll call it Gladbach from now on. Once we got this out of our way predicting the final result should be a piece of cake, especially giving teams’ form which are at opposite ends.
Gladbach are coming after a convincing performance, only this time it was away from home. They were usually hesitant when playing away and this was seen in the final results. Well not anymore. Last round Gladbach were more confident than ever and took all points (in style I may add) from Hamburg, who were also doing impressively at that moment.
Hosts’ offense with Raffael and Kruse is undoubtedly the strongest part of the team. In the current form these guys can score against most defenses in the world, there’s just no stopping them.
Like previously said, opponents Nurnberg are at the opposite end. They were under complete domination last round, on home ground, against mediocre Freiburg. To be honest that’s the story of their season so far: always under pressure.
Their playing system is ugly and inefficient, a 4-5-1 with emphasis on the defense. They withdraw in defense from the 1st whistle and just hope for the best.
The problem is their defensive potential is really limited so very rarely they are able to resist the pressure.
When Nurnberg lose it is not just by one, and when Gladbach win they do it convincingly. That is why taking Gladbach -1 at 11/8 from Stan James is a valuable and safe bet.
