The Champions League returns this week and things are beginning to spice up as we reach the second half of the group stages.
In terms of English involvement on Tuesday night, Manchester United travel to Real Sociedad whilst Manchester City face CSKA Moscow.
Real Sociedad v Manchester United
Manchester United will take a big step towards guaranteeing qualification to the knockout stages if they beat Real Sociedad again tonight.
An early own goal from Inigo Martinez gave them a tight 1-0 victory over the Spanish side at Old Trafford a fortnight ago in a game which was closer than some first thought it would be.
The defeat meant Sociedad remained glued to the bottom of the table without a single point but they’re sure to be battling to get off the mark again this evening.
David Moyes will be without the services of Jonny Evans who has a back injury and Rafael who misses out with an ankle problem. Tom Cleverly is included despite suffering double vision in the weekend’s 3-1 win at Fulham.
You can catch this one live on ITV1 from 7:45pm.
Manchester City v CSKA Moscow
Manchester City could qualify for the knockout stages tonight if they beat CSKA and Bayern beat Victoria Plzen in the other Group D match.
Two goals from the in form Sergio Aguero helped them come back from Zoran Tosic’s earlier goal when the sides met in Russia two weeks ago.
The main item of team news from City is that Costel Pantilimon will continue in goal for the Blues goal following Saturday’s 7-0 demolition of Premier league strugglers Norwich City, with Joe Hart remaining on the bench.
Vincent Kompany remains side-lined with a calf injury, as does Stevan Jovetic who is struggling with a calf injury.
This match is live on Sky Sports 2 from 7:45pm.
Tuesday’s other Matches
The pick of the night’s other matches comes from Group B where Serie A champions Juventus host Real Madrid.
Juve have had a disappointing start to this year’s Champions League campaign and currently only have two points to their name following draws against Copenhagen and Galatasaray.
A Cristiano Ronaldo brace helped Madrid to a 2-1 win at the Santiago Bernabao a fortnight ago but Juventus are favourites to gain revenge for the defeat, with a number of websites including Bet Victor offering odds of 6/4. The best price on a Real Madrid win comes from Stan James at 15/8.
You can catch this one on Sky Sports 4 from 7:45pm.
My Bet of the Day comes in Group A’s other match where Shakhtar Donetsk host Bayer Leverkusen.
Despite running out 4-0 winners in their last meeting a fortnight ago, Leverkusen are priced at longer odds for the return fixture and odds of 5/2 from Stan James represent good value on a probable victory of the Germans.
You can catch this one via the red button on Sky Sports, where you can of course keep tabs on the other four matches tonight.
