The Europa League is also heading towards its conclusion with just eight teams remaining in search of a spot at the final in Turin as we head into the quarter-finals on Thursday.
Lyon v Juventus Betting Tips
Juventus will of course be at home for the final if they get there, but they have a tasty quarter-final tie against the once giants of French football, Lyon.
Lyon are not the side they once were and currently sit fifth in Ligue 1 and have tasted defeat three times in their last four outings. A crippling injury list has not helped them, with Milan Biševac, Mouhamadou Dabo, Gueïda Fofana, Yoann Gourcuff, Clément Grenier and Miguel Lopes all absent for this encounter.
Since bowing out of the Champions League, Juve have defeated Trabzonspor and fellow Italian side Fiorentina and they head into this match in top form as they head the Serie A table. Before Sunday, they had gone 14 games unbeaten before being beaten 2-0 by Napoli.
This game is live on ITV1 from 8:05pm.
FC Basel v Valencia Betting Tips
Swiss league leaders Basel are searching for a second consecutive appearance in the semi-finals of the Europa League as they play host to Valencia.
They beat the likes of Zenit St. Petersburg and Tottenham to reach the last four last season and look in good shape to give it another go this year, as they head into this meeting unbeaten in 15.
Valencia won the UEFA Cup in 2004 but they go into this one with just three wins from their last nine games in all competitions, with them lying eighth in La Liga.
This game will be played behind closed doors though which will play into Valencia’s hands, after Basel fans threw missiles onto the pitch during their last 16 win over Red Bull Salzburg a few weeks ago.
BT Sport 1 is the place to watch this one at 8:05pm.
AZ Alkmaar v Benfica Betting Tips
Benfica will be confident of progress to the semi-finals after drawing mid-table Eredvise side AZ Alkmaar in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
AZ scraped through as 1-0 aggregate winners against Anzhi and they have been in very uninspiring form of late, with just one win in five.
Benfica on the other hand, overcame Tottenham 5-3 on aggregate and have suffered just one defeat in 29 games, last week’s cup defeat to Porto, and they lead the Portuguese league by seven points.
This game is live on ESPN from 8:05pm.
Porto v Sevilla Betting Tips
The fourth and final quarter-final on Thursday will be an interesting affair as Porto, who lie third in the Super Liga, face fifth placed La Liga outfit Sevilla.
Porto have been way off the pace domestically this season although a 3-2 aggregate win over Napoli in the last 16 was one of the standout results from a drab season.
Sevilla beat fellow Spanish side Real Betis on penalties last time out in Europe and they’ve been in good form recently, with eight wins from 10, although they were beaten by Celta Vigo at the weekend.
