Gamcare are a very important part of betting in the UK for people who have issues with their betting or for friends and relatives to contact if they know someone who has a problem.
They operate the National Gambling Helpline, provide treatment for problem gamblers and their families, create awareness about responsible gambling and treatment, and encourage an effective approach to responsible gambling within the gambling industry.
The Freephone GamCare HelpLine (0808 8020 133) and its online equivalent, NetLine, provide live, confidential, one-to-one information, advice and emotional support and signposting to further sources of local or specialist help.
GamCare receives grants through voluntary funding arrangements managed by the Responsible Gambling Trust (https://www.responsiblegamblingtrust.org.uk). These grants enable them to run the National Gambling HelpLine and to provide Counselling in Great Britain free of charge for anyone affected by problem gambling.
As an independent national charity funded by donations from the gambling industry, the Responsible Gambling Trust funds education, prevention and treatment services and commissions research to broaden public understanding of gambling-related harm. The aim is to stop people getting into problems with their gambling, and ensure that those that do develop problems receive fast and effective treatment and support.
If you are concerned about the amount of time or money that you or someone you know is spending gambling, you can talk in confidence to their advisers, one to one, by phone or online.
