Livorno made a great game last round away at Cagliari (won 2-1) and as a consequence now they are 1 point clear of the relegation zone. At the back they still looked somewhat fragile, but upfront Livorno proved very determined as they had attempts on target from all possible positions (some may call it a siege).
In-fact this is Livorno’s main characteristic: loose defense and an offense always trying to compensate.
The defensive problems will be bigger than usual seeing that defensive midfielder Benassi and fullback Ceccherini will be suspended. Central attacking midfielder Luci will also miss through injury, but to be honest he was kind of absent lately, as Livorno’s actions are carried mostly on the wings without Luci’s participation.
Opponents Verona were outplayed last round by Torino (lost 3-1). By now nobody expects Verona to keep a clean sheet anymore, and a game without conceding would be considered a miracle. They play in a 4-3-3 system with all midfielders taking part in the offensive phase and neglecting the defense.
Central midfielder Hallfredsson is suspended for this game. He will most likely be replaced by Brazilian Marquinho who is faster and can actually improve Verona’s play.
The first game between these teams had only 3 goals in it (Verona won 2-1), but it was an open game with numerous scoring opportunities.
With both defenses being fragile, and the attacking players able to speculate and exploit, there should be goals in this game. Over 2.5 goals at evens from Paddy Power is definitely a must try.
