Nigeria Manager Hopes to Secure Home Support in Russia
Nigera World Cup Betting – Gernot Rohr, the Super Eagles coach is hoping to get huge home support at the 2018 World Cup in Russia this summer. One of his biggest “baits” should be Ahmed Musa, a former CSKA Moscow format, who currently plays for Leicester City in the Premier League.
It is no secret that the pacey forward is not happy with his current role in Claude Puel’s squad and is eagerly looking for a new club in order to get in the right form for the upcoming World Cup.
During his first season at the King Power Stadium, Musa made 32 appearances, scoring 4 goals in the process, but he only managed two league outings this term, which is not enough if he plans to secure his place in the Nigeria World Cup squad.
Rumour has it that he will leave the Foxes in January, and if we are to believe Gernot Rohr, he will once again join Armeitsy, which will be a huge plus for his team, since it will definitely secure a serious home support from Russian fans, because Musa was extremely popular during his stay in CSKA Moscow.
During the friendly match against Argentina in Krasnodar this November, another Russian-based player, Brian Idowu, who plays for Amkar Perm and was born in Russia, got a standing ovation when he was introduced, and he even scored a goal, securing a huge win for his team against the Argentinians.
Rohr believes that more players from Russian football clubs will surely secure a bigger home support, and such a support will definitely be needed on their opening match against Croatia. The Super Eagles will face Vatreni on 16th June 2018 at the Kaliningrad Stadium, and they can be backed at 10/3 to claim maximum points (accurate as of 23rd January 2018).
A victory in the opening fixture would mean the world for one of the best African teams, and would certainly reduce the pressure in the following clashes against Iceland and especially Argentina, who were already beaten on Russian soil this November. Check out the latest Group D Betting here.
