Saturday is lined up to be an exciting day of racing for punters with both Sandown and Wetherby including Graded contests, along with some other decent racing across the UK & Ireland.
Sandown Horse Racing Tips
OSCAR WHISKY is a short priced favourite for the Grade 1 at Sandown following his fine victory over the highly regarded Taquin De Seuil last time out.
In a slightly poor turnout for such a quality race, 3/1 shot Benvolio is likely to be the favourites biggest challenger, with Alan King’s Manyriverstocross a long 14/1 with Bet365.
Nicky Henderson’s nine-year-old has changed to fences of late and has done so in fine fashion up to now. Most leading firms are as short as 2/5 for the market leader who is very capable of landing a hat-trick here.
Benvolio is also chasing a third straight win, however this is much harder and he will probably have to settle for second.
Richard Lee’s Grey Gold is sure to run well in the second race at Sandown. The nine-year-old ran well behind Desert Cry last time and is now 8lb better off than Donald McCain’s 9/2 favourite. With Jamie Moore aboard and the ground heavy, Grey Gold could prove a very valuable bet.
TATENEN and King Edmund both represent good value in the Class 2 Handicap Chase, however the former surged clear against a big field on his reappearance at Newbury in November and could well win this at 5/2 with Paddy Power.
There are a number of fine horses entered for the Betfred Masters Handicap Chase and this one is going to be tricky for punters. Ardkilly Witness leads the betting at 6/1 with Boylesports, whilst Philip Hobbs’ Roalco De Farges looks a decent bet at 7’s. Theatrical Star and last year’s winner On Trend are another two with strong claims.
Venetia Williams Last Shot is decent on heavy ground and has been running well of late, therefore the 7/2 price with Bet365 symbolises value. Un Anjou warrants respect though, as does Sew On Target.
Wetherby Horse Racing Tips
Jonjo O’Neill’s Shutthefrontdoor is the 6/4 favourite for the totepool Towton Novices’ Chase at Wetherby, with Lucinda Russell’s progressive Green Flag a 5/2 best price with Bet Victor.
Both warrant respect and the former should enjoy the return to softer ground, whilst the latter finished second in a Grade 1 at Kempton last time and will almost certainly run well.
Ely Brown is currently best price of 9/2 with Boylesports, following an easy win on his return to chasing last time.
Champion jockey A.P McCoy also rides Flemenson in the second race of the Wetherby card. The five-year-old had a fine hurdling victory on his debut at Uttoexter, but was beaten by a length at Exeter last time.
Sir Mangan is the only real challenger following a fine; however easy win at Sedgefield last time.
Rattlin represents decent value in the 2.45 at Wetherby, whilst Relic Rock may be worth a bet in the last under McCoy.
