Saturday’s Horse Racing Betting Tips
With the Badger Ales chase day at Wincanton and the final flat meeting at Doncaster this Saturday, punters are in for a day full of quality and variety.
Congratulations A. P. McCoy Rising Stars Novices’ Chase (Grade 2)
Following A P McCoy’s landmark 4000 wins on Thursday, the penultimate race at Wincanton is a Grade 2 Novice Chase in his name.
Paul Nicholls’ Wonderful Charm is the 6/4 favourite with most firms to land the Congratulations A P McCoy Rising Stars Novice Chase. He jumped fantastically when winning on his return at Fakenham last month and the 5-year-old may well have enough to win this.
Third Intention is 3/1 best price with Stan James and certainly cannot be ruled out. He won his first race in 8 last time over fences and has faced some very useful rivals up to now.
Fox Appeal and Meister Eckhart are both sure to give good accounts and none of the four entries can be written off in what is sure to be a very competitive contest.

Melodic Rendezvous and Far West are the two favourites for the 14:05. The former won the Grade 1 Tolworth Hurdle in January and won at Exeter after that, however he has not raced since February and carries top weight here.
The latter was only defeated once last season and that was in the Triumph Hurdle in March, to the classy Champion Hurdle hopeful, Our Conor.
Ladbrokes are offering 3/1 best price for Nicholls 4-year-old, who should run well. Nicholls has won three of the last four renewals, which also bodes well for his joint favourite.
Karinga Dancer is probably best of the rest and should certainly not be over looked. He has won over the course and distance and has not lost in four following a wind operation, so should run well but will need to improve once more.
Badger Ales Trophy (Listed Handicap Chase)
The feature race of the day is at 14.40 and is sure to be a tricky one for punters. The 14 entries will battle it out over 3m 1f 110y for the listed Badger Ales Trophy.
David Pipe has won the race twice in recent years and he saddles 5/1 favourite, Standing Ovation. He receives weight all round again and may well be worth a bet at decent value.
Paul Nicholls’ Poungach is a consistent type and could build on his Novice record here, whilst Court By Surprise, De La Bech and Masters Hill are others in the mix for this very competitive race.
The main races at Doncaster are the two listed events, which are both due to involve over 19 runners. The first of the two is the Betfred Goals Galore Wentworth Stakes and the leading contender is 7/2 shot, Jack Dexter.
He was a close second to Slade Power in a Group 2 last time, however carries a penalty for an earlier win at Newcastle. Last year’s winner Eton Rifles enters the frame again following a close second over 5f at Ascot in his only start this year.
Highland Colori and Spinatrix are two more to look out for, whilst Azenar represents good value at 66/1 with
The 15:00 is the second of the listed races and William Buick is set to ride current favourite, Cushion. The filly should be suited by conditions and has every chance if running at her best.
Richard Hughes is aboard Cocktail Queen, who represents very good value at 8/1 with Coral, following her third in a Group 3 at Newbury latest.
Princess Loulou is another to keep a close eye on, whilst Jabhaat and Empress Adelaide symbolise good each-way value.
