The Tingle Creek Christmas Festival continues tomorrow and the Bet Victor Tingle Creek Chase will be without the highest rated jumps horse, Sprinter Sacre.

BetVictor Tingle Creek Chase (Grade 1)

The magnificent Chaser is not 100% fit and is suffering from a minor illness which Henderson has said will clear up in no time with some medication.

Well his seasonal debut is now likely to be the Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton on 27th December, stable mate Captain Conan will now run in the race.

He is currently 5/2 with most leading firms and has won three times in Grade 1 company as a novice so has to be respected.

He also beat favourite Sire De Grugy at Cheltenham over this trip just over a year ago, although he was upped to 3m races going into the latter stages of the season and may struggle for speed.

Sire De Grugy does lead the market at 9/4 with Bet Victor though, after winning easily on his comeback at Chepstow, before finishing second in a listed event last time out.

The one to watch is SOMERSBY, who was back to his best latest when winning the Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter, beating the phenomenal Cue Card who finished third.

At 3/1 with Stan James, he may be worth a bet for a horse in top form at good value.

Racing Post Henry VIII Novices’ Chase (Grade 1)

Alan King’s Balder Success is the market leader for the other Grade 1 on the card at 1:50. The 5-year-old was in with a winning chance when falling at Cheltenham and went on to win well at Warwick last time.

Robert Thornton has chose the favourite over stable mate Manyriverstocross and it is another valuable bet at 3/1 for a horse that likes running in small fields.

Grandouet is also 3/1 but struggled to take to the jumps last time and unseated his rider after looking uncomfortable throughout the race. Nicholls’ entry Hinterland won that race and is 4/1 to make it 2 out of 2 this season.

Taquin Du Seuil is also a proven top class horse, however he took his time to get going under McCoy when beating Oscar Whisky at Cheltenham which means 2m may be a worry. He cannot be ruled out though and is 7/2 with Stan James.

Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts December Handicap Hurdle (Listed)

A field of 13 are set to battle it out for the Class 1, Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts December Handicap Hurdle, with Nicky Henderson’s River Maigue the current favourite with Stan James offering the best price of 9/2.

This will be all but straightforward though, as the 6-year-old has not raced since he was well beaten in the Supreme Novices’ in March.

Deep Trouble, Waterunder and Calculated Risk are all expected to run a good race, with Urbain De Sivola representing particularly good value at 8/1.

Champion jockey A P McCoy rides Champagne At Tara in the first who is sure to run well, before riding another expected to run a big race, Tigresse Bleue in the second on the card. Whisper and Utopie Des Bordes both represent good value in the third race, before McCoy is also fancied in the last on Buddy Bolero.

Other top quality racing action is available throughout the day from Aintree, Chepstow, Navan and Wetherby, before the night card from Wolverhampton.
