Well who would have thought that Leicester City would be sitting top of the Barclays Premier League in early December? and that last years champions Chelsea would be sat in 14th with only 15 points v Leicester on 32.
At the start of the season most people including us were expecting a shoot out between Chelsea and Manchester City, yes City are still favorites in the betting at a best price 6/4 with Ladbrokes and Betvictor but can you really see them being value at such odds, recent defeats make their squad look like it’s paper thin and for all the millions they have spent it probably is. You can attract the real top stars with the sort of cash that Manchester City possess but none of Europe’s top players fancy spending much time on the bench and the manager would struggle to keep them happy, after all is own job is being seen as under threat.
Arsenal sit in second place in the Premier League betting odds a best price 5/2 with Bet365 and William Hill but they too have major injury problems but one thing that could go in their favor is that they may well be out of the Champions League by this time next week. Which would leave them in a better position than Manchester City who I think will progress at least two more rounds.
Next we have Manchester United at a best price 11/12 with Coral, yet they can’t score and Louis Van Gaal is under pressure from his own fans who are bored with his style of football, in our estimations they may well become champions again but not this season and may be not nextt but the ground work for their resurgence is being put in place by the pragmatic Van Gaal who could well have upset the apple cart with his comment this weekend that a “Suarez or Aguero” could score here.
Next we have Liverpool who one week look absolutely amazing when they took Manchester City and Southampton apart then fail against a Newcastle side who everyone thinks look a decent bet for relegation. The Klopp revolution may take some time and again this wont be their year.
So then what do you think about Tottenham at 14/1 in general they look a far better proposition this season with the excellent Maurico Pochettino’s side just 6 points off the top. They have belief they have the work rate the only question is will they get enough goals? they have the Europa league as a distraction but we see all their efforts being focused on the league and hopefully the purse strings will be opened in the January transfer window to strengthen their front line should the right person be available, dark horses maybe but we think their great each way value at 14/1.
Having said that Leicester are up there for a reason and it’s not just Jame Vardy the have two very capable strikers with Riyad Mahrez also offer quality up front. But we reckon the midfield and defense are a bit weaker than the other clubs and they could well fall away slightly as the season goes on.
The latest odds are all here but who do you think will win this years title?
