Impressive win by Werder last round away at Nurnberg (2-0). They concentrated mostly on defending and striking on counters. The plan worked out, but not necessarily because their defensive abilities exceed normal limits, but mainly because opponents, besides having a reduced offensive potential, played around with opportunities.
Werder managed to keep a clean sheet in the last 3 rounds, and in Bundesliga that can be considered quite an achievement. But circumstances played a big role, as opponents were not in the best of moments when meeting Werder.
Against Stuttgart it will be an entire different story, not because Stuttgart are doing well, but because they will act like savages trying to end the bad run.
Stuttgart are scoring goals but unfortunately they are also conceding. As a matter of fact they conceded at least 1 goal in every official game played in 2014. Only last round they managed to take their first point after the winter break (2-2 against Braunschweig). They are in a delicate situation to say the least.
While the attacking players are creating chances and converting them, the defensive players seem to lack confidence. Defensive midfielder Gentner, the one who should be covering open spaces, is probably the most confused of them all (he even missed a penalty last round).
Even if hosts are in a better moment, Stuttgart will be the ones imposing the rythm. They will attack from the first minute, once again scoring and of course conceding. Given the conditions mentioned, the price for over 2.5 goals at 7/10 from Ladbrokes definitely deserves some medium stakes.
